Christian trained at Dartington College of Arts in Acting and Directing (83-87) achieving a 2.1 B.A Hons.,
and also with Jerzy Grotowski at the Piccolo Teatro de Pontedera (85).
His performance work with companies such as Paines Plough, The Kosh, Lindsay Kemp Company,
The Gate Theatre,Theatre Alibi and the Royal Shakespeare Company, has given him
a passion to balance physicality, character and narrative; which informs his directing work.
He has directed many productions for TNT Theatre (ADGE) since 2002 including:
Half Broke Horses 2016, A Christmas Carol 2015, The Canterville Ghost 2015, Frankenstein 2014, Much Ado about Nothing 2013, Macbeth 2013, Death of a Salesman 2012 and many more.
He worked at the Gate Theatre with Lawrence Boswell as Movement Director (90-92).
He has worked as a Director and Teacher for GLYPT (Greenwich and Lewisham Young People’s Theatre)
directing productions and leading workshops.
For Arts Ed drama school he directed Grimms’ Fairy Tales by Carol Ann Duffy 2014
and Man is Man (abridged) Brecht 2012
and has also directed and taught at Royal Academy of Music (Music Theatre course)
and directed Opera and Musicals at the Royal College of Music.
He was visiting Performance tutor at Central St Martin’s School of Art’s Theatre Design course.
He also directs productions for his and his partner’s own company rhymenreason including
Hansel and Gretel (2015) and The Pied Piper of Hamelin (2013) and continues to work as an actor.
