Stewart is a Yorkshireman who went north. He’s been living in Northumberland for more than a decade and has acted and written for Northumberland Theatre Company on several occasions, most recently scripting their popular comedy, OCEANS FIVE AND A HALF. On stage he was the original Arthur in the West End production of John Godber’s UP’N UNDER which won COMEDY OF THE YEAR. Also in London he worked with Corin Redgrave’s Moving Theatre Company, playing Stubbs in CASEMENT and Screever in THE FLAG. Among performances on tour have been Willie Mossop in HOBSON’S CHOICE and Cantbe in his own play THESE THINGS DO HAPPEN. He has also appeared in feature films such as LOVE ACTUALLY and THUNDERBIRDS.His many TV performances have covered some of Britain’s best-loved series including HEARTBEAT, THE DOCTORS, THE BILL, FAT FRIENDS, CORONATION STREET, TRIAL & RETRIBUTION, LAWLESS and STEEL RIVER BLUES. For three years he played Nigel Dobson in EMMERDALE. Most recently he has played a chief constable in BYKER GROVE and a funeral director in SILENT WITNESS.
