Mike has been an actor and theatre director for over twenty years. From his native Lancashire, stage work has taken him as far afield as Hong Kong and Japan. He has a First Class degree in Drama and English and an MA in Shakespeare Studies. Mike worked extensively with the English Shakespeare Company, initially touring as an actor on several education shows, and then as a director. Among others, he played the title roles in Hamlet and Titus Andronicus for the ESC – directed by Malachi Bogdanov. Mike is an accomplished improviser and also has a background in comedy and physical theatre, specialising in multi-role devised work. Other theatre credits include Stones in His Pockets (Sweden Tour) Hack & White in The Last Pirate (Wales Tour); Lancaster & Lightborn in Edward II (Germany); and The Fool in Bill Shakespeare’s Italian Job (Edinburgh); TV credits include Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Peak Practice, Doctors, Strange, Blackpool, Eastenders, and The Somme. Films include In the Spider’s Web and The Mandrake Root. Mike teaches theatre and works regularly at Guildford, Mountview and the Arts Ed School in London. He also works as a voice artist, narrating TV documentaries as well as several audio books for Harper Collins.
